The Mini-FLOTAC provides consistently more accurate results than the McMaster method, with a detection limit that is much lower.
This means that even small numbers of parasites can be identified, which is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment.
In addition, no centrifuge is required, making the process simpler and faster.
The detection limit of the Mini-FLOTAC is 5 eggs per gram (epg), which is five to 10 times more sensitive than the McMaster method, which has a detection limit of 25-50 epg.
The Mini-FLOTAC is particularly suitable for:
- Determining worm resistance.
- Regular fecal examination in dogs, cats and alpacas, which often excrete fewer worm eggs when worm infection is present.
The Mini-FLOTAC set contains the following parts:
- Fill-FLOTAC: Suitable for 2 or 5 grams of manure, for optimal sample preparation.
- Mini-FLOTAC counting chamber: For accurate quantification of parasites.
- Adapter: For easy placement of the counting chamber under the microscope.
- Short manual: With clear instructions for use.
For horses, sheep and goats, combine 5 grams of manure with 45 ml of flotation solution.
